Madhya Pradesh police dismantled three illicit liquor units in the backwaters of Omkarshwar Dam, uncovering 40‑45 hidden drums containing about 6,000 liters of mahua liqueur.
In Khundwa district, authorities carried out a coordinated raid on the backwaters of Omkarshwar Dam, targeting illicit liquor production sites. The operation, led by the Mandhata police, focused on three clandestine units operating beneath the water level.
Divers were deployed to locate and retrieve concealed containers. Their efforts paid off when 40 to 45 drums were recovered from the submerged area. Subsequent inspections revealed that the drums held approximately 6,000 liters of mahua liqueur.
The seized stock represents a significant loss for illegal distillers and underscores the ongoing crackdown on unlicensed alcohol manufacturing in the state. Police officials have announced that the recovered units will be dismantled and the area will remain under surveillance to prevent future illicit activity.
