After evading authorities for a month, the caretaker suspected of killing a retired IAS officer was apprehended by police, ending a high‑profile manhunt.
Police officials confirmed that the caretaker alleged to have murdered a retired Indian Administrative Service officer was taken into custody after a month‑long evasion. The suspect had been listed as absconding following the officer's death, prompting a statewide alert and a series of complaints filed by the victim's family.
Investigators traced the caretaker through a network of complaints and forensic leads that linked him to the crime scene. A special task force was formed, and checkpoints were set up across nearby districts to prevent his escape.
The arrest was carried out in a residential locality early on Wednesday, where officers cornered the suspect after confirming his identity. He was handed over to the local police station for further interrogation.
Authorities said the detainee will appear before the magistrate within the next 24 hours, and the case will proceed under the criminal justice process. No further details on the motive or evidence were disclosed at this stage.
