PM Modi Urges Action on Poverty as World Bank Data Shows Progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent address, emphasized that poverty removal is not merely a slogan but a concrete objective, citing the latest World Bank data on India’s poverty trends. The World Bank reports a significant decline in the proportion of Indians living below the international poverty line, a trend the government aims to sustain. Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerate poverty‑reduction programmes and to ensure that the gains reach the most vulnerable communities. He called on all stakeholders to intensify efforts to translate data-driven insights into tangible outcomes for the poor.
