The Pakistan India Business Council chief said the suspension of bilateral trade with India has cost Pakistan roughly $40 billion, Economic Times reports.

The chief of the Pakistan India Business Council (PIBC) told the Economic Times that the ongoing suspension of trade with India has resulted in an estimated loss of $40 billion for Pakistan's economy.
The figure reflects the cumulative impact of halted imports and exports that traditionally formed a significant share of bilateral commerce between the two neighbours.
PIBC officials say the loss underscores how deeply intertwined the two economies were, with sectors ranging from textiles to agricultural products experiencing sharp revenue declines.
While no official government response has been recorded, the council warned that prolonged trade restrictions could further strain Pakistan's fiscal outlook and exacerbate existing economic challenges.
