Guest scholars in Madhya Pradesh are calling for the rollout of a promised policy that would grant them permanent status, fixed salaries, and job security after Haryana offered a better model.
Guest scholars in Madhya Pradesh have revived a long‑standing debate over their employment conditions, demanding that the state government follow through on a policy that was promised after Haryana introduced a more favourable scheme.
The proposed framework would grant guest scholars permanent status, a fixed salary, and adjustments for cost of living, thereby providing the job security that has been lacking in the current ad‑hoc system.
Representatives of the scholars, who work across universities and research institutes, have issued a formal appeal to the state cabinet, insisting that the policy be implemented without delay.
At present, the policy remains in draft form, and the government has yet to announce a timeline for its rollout, leaving scholars in a state of uncertainty.
