Kerala Sees Slight Drop in Human Deaths from Elephant Attacks

The Kerala Forest Department has announced a marginal decrease in human deaths resulting from wild elephant attacks over the past five years. This information was presented to the state assembly, highlighting a positive trend in mitigating the risks associated with human-elephant conflict. While the exact number of deaths has not been disclosed, the department emphasized the significance of this decline. To further address the issue, the government plans to establish four specialized 'kumki' squads. These squads will focus on managing and relocating wild elephants, aiming to reduce the frequency of human-elephant encounters.
