The Karnataka government has informed the High Court that it will not enforce a circular requiring hospitals to disclose medicine prices on bills immediately.

The Karnataka government has stated that it will not enforce a recent circular mandating the disclosure of medicine prices on hospital bills. The circular, which requires pharmacies to list the landing base/purchase price and maximum retail price of medicines, medical devices, and consumables on bills, was challenged in the High Court. The government has informed the court that it will not implement the circular until further orders are issued. This decision provides hospitals with temporary relief from the requirement to disclose medicine prices publicly.
