The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued fresh JKAS probation and examination regulations for 2026, mandating seven papers and a minimum 50% qualifying score for candidates.
The Union Territory administration announced new probation and examination guidelines for the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) for the 2026 recruitment cycle. Under the revised framework, aspirants will have to appear for seven separate papers covering a broader syllabus than earlier editions.
A key change is the introduction of a uniform qualifying threshold: candidates must secure at least 50 percent marks in each paper to be considered for further selection stages. This replaces the earlier practice of variable cut‑offs based on paper difficulty and overall performance.
The notification, released through the official gazette and the state’s recruitment portal, also outlines revised timelines for the probation period, training modules, and the weightage of internal assessments. Officials said the reforms aim to standardise the selection process, enhance meritocracy, and align JKAS standards with other central services.
Applicants are advised to review the detailed rulebook available on the JKAS official website and to prepare accordingly, as the new criteria will be strictly enforced during the upcoming examinations.
