A man from Jharkhand has been incarcerated in the United Arab Emirates after quitting his job without notice, prompting his relatives to seek assistance from the Indian government.

A citizen of Jharkhand is currently serving a jail term in the United Arab Emirates after his employer alleged that he abandoned his duties without providing the contractual notice period. The employer filed a complaint under the UAE labour law, which permits detention for breach of contract in certain cases. The man was detained by local authorities and later sentenced to imprisonment pending further legal proceedings.

The detainee's family in India has approached the Ministry of External Affairs, requesting diplomatic intervention and consular assistance to secure his release or at least improve his conditions of confinement. They have also appealed to the state government of Jharkhand for support in liaising with the central authorities.

Indian officials have confirmed that a consular team is in contact with the UAE authorities and is monitoring the case. While no official statement on a possible resolution has been issued, the ministry has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of Indian nationals abroad.

Legal experts note that the incident underscores the importance of understanding employment contracts and local labour regulations before taking up overseas assignments. They advise Indian workers to seek legal counsel and maintain proper documentation when terminating employment abroad.
