Anurag Sujania, a 2014 batch IPS officer, tendered his resignation four days after being relieved from the Sagar SP post, following the emergence of fake liquor deaths in Muraina and Sagar.

Anurag Sujania, a 2014 batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, resigned from his position as Superintendent of Police in Sagar just four days after he was relieved from the post by the state government.

The decision to remove Sujania came amid growing scrutiny over the handling of several high‑profile cases during his tenure, most notably the deaths caused by counterfeit liquor in the towns of Muraina and Sagar.

Investigations into the fake liquor incidents revealed that a number of people had died after consuming contaminated alcohol, prompting a public outcry and calls for stricter enforcement of safety regulations.

Sujania’s resignation follows a pattern of administrative action against police officials who have faced criticism for their management of public safety crises, underscoring the pressure on law‑enforcement officers to maintain public trust.
