IG Defence has announced plans to jointly develop the KAL drone and JWALA micro‑missile for Oman, with potential expansion to other GCC nations.
IG Defence, an Indian defense technology firm, has confirmed its intention to collaborate with Oman on the development of the KAL drone and the JWALA micro‑missile system. The partnership aims to enhance Oman’s air defense capabilities by integrating advanced unmanned aerial vehicle technology and precision missile systems.
The agreement outlines joint research and development efforts, with India providing design expertise and Oman contributing operational requirements and testing facilities. Both parties plan to conduct field trials in the coming months to validate performance and interoperability.
While the primary focus is Oman, IG Defence indicated that the collaboration could serve as a model for other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries seeking to modernize their defense arsenals. The initiative reflects India’s growing role as a defense exporter in the Middle East.
No official launch date has been set, but industry analysts expect the first prototype to emerge by late 2025, following regulatory approvals and procurement processes.
