The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for West Bengal, prompting Indian Railways to cancel several train services as a precaution.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised the weather warning level for West Bengal to orange, signalling the possibility of severe conditions such as heavy rain and strong winds. In response, Indian Railways announced the cancellation of several train services across the state to ensure passenger safety and prevent disruptions.
Authorities have advised commuters to stay updated on the evolving weather situation and to avoid non-essential travel until the alert is lifted. The orange alert remains in force until further notice, with officials monitoring the system closely.
The precautionary measures reflect the region's vulnerability to intense monsoon activity, and officials are coordinating with local agencies to manage any emerging hazards.
