The state government has announced the formation of 28 specialized cyber commandos to curb rising digital crime.

Himachal Pradesh has launched a new initiative to strengthen cyber law enforcement by deploying 28 cyber commandos across the state. The specialized team will focus on cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, and public awareness campaigns.
The commandos will receive advanced training in hacking detection, data recovery, and cybercrime analytics. They will collaborate closely with the state cyber police and national bodies such as the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.
The move follows a surge in online fraud, phishing, and cyber extortion cases reported in the region. The government said the team will also conduct workshops for local businesses and schools to improve cyber hygiene.
The first batch of commandos will be stationed in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu, operating 24/7 with the goal of reducing cybercrime incidents by 30% within the first year.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to digitize law enforcement and safeguard citizens' digital rights.
