The Hello मन initiative has begun deploying mobile mental health units to underserved villages across Sikkim, aiming to bridge the gap in psychiatric care for remote residents.
Hello मन, a mental health outreach program, has started operating mobile clinics in several remote villages of Sikkim.
The units, equipped with counseling rooms and telepsychiatry facilities, provide free psychological support, therapy sessions, and medication counseling to residents who previously had to travel long distances for care.
Local health officials say the initiative addresses a critical shortage of mental health professionals in the state’s hilly terrain, where many communities lack any nearby psychiatric services.
The program also includes training for community health workers, enabling them to identify and refer individuals with mental health concerns to the mobile teams.
By bringing services directly to the villages, Hello मन hopes to reduce stigma and improve early detection of mental health issues among Sikkim’s rural population.
