The Supreme Court’s SIR tribunal will soon get an electronic signature system, allowing judges to sign and upload bulk orders through a dedicated portal, officials said.
New Delhi, November 3 (TOI) – The Supreme Court’s Special Investigation Report (SIR) tribunal is set to receive an electronic signature (e‑sign) facility in the coming weeks. The move aims to streamline the signing process for judges and reduce reliance on physical paperwork.
The e‑sign system will be integrated into the existing SIR portal, enabling judges to affix their digital signatures to orders and judgments directly online. In addition, the portal will support bulk uploading of orders, allowing multiple documents to be processed in a single operation.
Court officials said the upgrade is part of a broader digital transformation initiative across the judiciary, intended to improve efficiency and transparency. The technology will be rolled out after final testing and security clearances, with training sessions planned for the tribunal judges.
Stakeholders expect the new capability to cut turnaround times for case disposals and ease the administrative burden on court staff. The implementation timeline will be communicated to all concerned parties once the system is fully operational.
