The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has applied Stage‑III restrictions across the entire National Capital Region with immediate effect after Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) surged to 382 today.
Under Stage‑III, new vehicle registrations, construction activities, and certain industrial emissions are prohibited. The restrictions also limit the use of diesel generators and ban the use of high‑pollution fuels.
The decision is a precautionary measure aimed at curbing particulate matter and protecting public health ahead of the Diwali celebrations.
Officials have urged residents to stay indoors, wear masks, and keep abreast of real‑time air quality updates from the CAQM portal.
The restrictions will remain in force until the AQI falls below 250, as per the guidelines for Stage‑III enforcement.
