The India Meteorological Department has named the developing cyclone Murasu, which is projected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 3.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has named the developing low‑pressure system Murasu, following the retirement of the name Arnab after the recent cyclone. The system has been classified as a cyclonic storm and is expected to intensify as it approaches the eastern coast of India.
According to the latest bulletin, Murasu is projected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 3, with maximum sustained winds of 60–70 km/h and a central pressure around 985 hPa. The cyclone is moving west‑southwest at a speed of about 15 km/h.
Residents in coastal districts such as Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram have been advised to secure property, avoid low‑lying areas and heed evacuation orders if issued. The IMD has issued a Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 for the affected zones.
State authorities have activated emergency response plans, mobilised the National Disaster Response Force and set up cyclone shelters. The government is coordinating with the Indian Navy and Coast Guard for rescue operations.
