The 2027 Census of India will commence on 25 January and run through 28 February, with snow‑bound and poll‑bound areas excluded from the count.
The Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner announced that the nationwide enumeration for Census 2027 will start on 25 January and conclude on 28 February. The schedule mirrors the previous census, ensuring a 34‑day window for data collection.
In line with the 2021 Census guidelines, areas that are snow‑bound or designated as poll‑bound will not be included in the enumeration. This exclusion aims to avoid overlap with election activities and logistical challenges posed by heavy snowfall.
Officials emphasized that the census will cover all states and union territories, except the specified regions, to provide an accurate snapshot of India’s population for the upcoming decade.
The government has urged citizens to cooperate with enumerators and provide accurate information to aid in planning and resource allocation.
The Census 2027 is expected to inform policy decisions, development plans, and allocation of funds across the country.
