The Commission for Air Quality Management has issued strict orders to curb pollution in Delhi-NCR, including a construction ban and a 50% work-from-home mandate effective from November 5 to 20.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has introduced stringent measures to address the deteriorating air quality in the National Capital Region. Effective from November 5 to November 20, all construction activities in the region are prohibited to minimize dust generation and particulate matter emissions.
In addition to the construction ban, the CAQM has mandated that 50% of employees in both the public and private sectors work from home during this period. This directive aims to reduce vehicular traffic on the roads, which is a significant contributor to the region's pollution levels.
The orders are part of a broader strategy to manage air quality during the winter months when pollution levels typically spike. Authorities are monitoring compliance with these new regulations to ensure immediate impact on the region's air index.
