The Bangalore Transport Police have directed transit fuel tankers to be rerouted towards the South Traffic Ring Road (STRR) to reduce congestion on city roads.
The Bangalore Transport Police (BTP) announced a new traffic management directive today, instructing all transit fuel tankers to be rerouted to the South Traffic Ring Road (STRR). The move aims to ease congestion on the city’s main arteries during peak hours.
Under the directive, tanker routes will be adjusted to avoid the congested corridors of central Bangalore, with the STRR serving as a dedicated bypass. BTP officials said the change is expected to reduce travel times for tanker drivers and improve overall traffic flow.
The decision follows a series of traffic studies that highlighted the heavy load of fuel transport vehicles on the city’s core roads. By diverting these vehicles to the ring road, authorities hope to free up space for private and public transport, thereby mitigating bottlenecks during morning and evening commutes.
BTP will monitor the implementation of the new routing plan and adjust as necessary. The directive is effective immediately and applies to all transit fuel tankers operating within Bangalore’s municipal limits.
