The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken down an environmental awareness video featuring actor Dia Mirza, following objections from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has removed a video promoting an eco-friendly Deepavali, which featured actor Dia Mirza. The action was reportedly taken after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised objections.
The video, intended to raise awareness about environmental concerns during the festival, was pulled down by the civic body. Following the incident, the Mayor suggested that the administration should seek clearance for involving celebrities in future campaigns.
Dia Mirza, in her response, stated that the video was created in the public interest and complied with a Bombay High Court order. Meanwhile, opposition parties have criticized the BJP, alleging that their actions are religiously divisive.
