The BJP’s central command has taken note of its recent gains in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections and plans to call state president Ravindra Chavan for an explanation, sources said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party recorded a noticeable increase in seats in the latest Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections, signalling a favourable swing for the party in the state.
In the wake of the results, senior officials at the national level have reportedly scrutinised the outcome. Party insiders say the central leadership intends to summon state president Ravindra Chavan to discuss the performance and chart further strategy.
Political analysts interpret the move as a test of the alliance’s cohesion, as the BJP’s gains have heightened pressure on its coalition partners in Maharashtra. The response highlights the party’s focus on consolidating its foothold ahead of upcoming state and national contests.
