In Bihar, the Home Department acted after a bail order was issued for Ramnivas Gupta, yet he was unlawfully kept in jail for 16 days. The jail superintendent’s salary hike was halted and a ₹50,000 compensation was ordered.

In the Haji Pur Mandal Kara area of Bihar, the Home Department has taken action after it was discovered that Ramnivas Gupta was held in jail for 16 days despite a court order granting him bail and release.

The incident came to light when the court’s bail directive was not complied with, leading to an investigation by the state’s Home Department. As a result, the jail superintendent’s pending salary increase was suspended.

Additionally, the department ordered a compensation of ₹50,000 to be paid to the prisoner for the unlawful detention. The case highlights the need for stricter enforcement of court orders within the state’s penal system.
