Bihar Chief Minister Shree Kumar Suman Chaudhary stressed the need to implement sediment management policies under the Ganga water treaty, advocate using Ganga silt for construction, and resolve the Son River water dispute with Jharkhand.
Chief Minister Shree Kumar Suman Chaudhary addressed the state assembly on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive sediment management strategy under the Ganga water treaty. He urged the government to adopt policies that would regulate silt deposition and ensure its efficient use.
The CM highlighted that the Ganga’s silt, if properly managed, could serve as a valuable resource for construction projects across Bihar, reducing the need for imported materials and boosting local infrastructure development.
In addition to water management, Chaudhary underscored the urgency of resolving the long‑standing Son River water dispute with neighboring Jharkhand. He called for a joint task force to negotiate a fair water sharing arrangement that would benefit both states.
The CM’s remarks come as Bihar seeks to strengthen its position in inter‑state water negotiations while promoting sustainable use of the Ganga’s natural resources.
