Cleaning staff in Abu Road, Rajasthan, have halted work in 27 wards, demanding a daily wage of ₹500, PF-ESI benefits, timely salaries and safety gear.

Cleaning workers in Abu Road, a town in Rajasthan's Sirohi district, have gone on strike, stopping maintenance in 27 wards. The protest began after the municipal corporation failed to meet the workers' demands for a ₹500 daily wage, provident fund and ESI coverage, punctual salary payments, and provision of protective gear. The employees have refused to return to duty until their conditions are met.

The strike has disrupted routine sanitation services across the town, prompting residents to seek alternative arrangements. Local authorities have called for dialogue, but the workers remain firm on their demands. The municipal corporation has yet to offer a revised compensation package.

The situation underscores ongoing labor disputes in Rajasthan's local bodies, where workers often cite inadequate wages and lack of benefits as key grievances. The strike is expected to continue until a settlement is reached.
