West Bengal TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee has questioned the validity of the BJP's electoral mandate, calling for fresh elections in the state.
West Bengal politics witnessed a significant development as TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee publicly questioned the mandate of the BJP-led government. In a strong statement, Banerjee argued that the current electoral outcome does not reflect a clear or legitimate majority for the ruling party in the state.
The TMC leader has formally sought fresh elections in West Bengal, asserting that a new vote is necessary to ensure democratic representation aligns with the will of the people. This move places additional pressure on the central government and the Election Commission to address the allegations regarding the fairness of the previous electoral process.
The demand for fresh polls is expected to intensify political discourse in the state, with opposition parties likely to evaluate the legal and constitutional implications of such a request. The BJP, which currently holds power in West Bengal, is expected to respond to these claims, potentially leading to further political confrontation in the coming days.
